Hands of Humanity is a 501(c)3 U.S. Federal Nonprofit Corporation. We are a non-political and ¹non-religious international humanitarian organization focusing on developing participatory, sustainable projects in rural areas of the developing world. The projects involve community development in the areas of efficient cooking methods, clean water, sanitation, fighting deforestation, education and economic relief.

Our mission is to teach existing, proven methods of improving the quality of life to rural people so that they may best help themselves.

We encourage people to travel and work with us on our projects. The hope is that exposure to the developing world will enlighten them to the world outside their own and inspire them to continue humanitarian service in their lives.  Past travelers have had life-changing human experiences and an opportunity to change people's lives FOREVER. You may find that the life you change may be your own!

Partners : Hands of Humanity recognizes that there are many, many excellent groups doing tremendous work all around the world. It is our objective to partner with these established humanitarian organizations. We are currently working with groups in Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Haiti. In 2010 - 2012 we are looking to partner with groups in Madagascar, Brazil and Honduras.

FOUNDERS:
Costa "Gus" Mavraganis, 51, Program Director & Board member - Costa has been doing humanitarian work for several years in the Caribbean and South America. Since 1999, he has been the Program Director for the Cuba AIDS Project. In that time, he has led hundreds of humanitarian travelers to Cuba and Haiti.

Robert Bland, 52,  Assistant Program Director & Board Member - Robert and Costa have traveled and worked extensively together in Cuba, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.

Emily Mavraganis, 24, Project Coordinator & Board Member  - Emily is our youngest member but most important member. She helps us keep organized, motivated and focused.

NOTE: ¹By "non-religious" , we in no way insinuate that we are against God or any religion or religious group. Conversly, we work closely with religious groups as they are the ones many times on the front lines of solving the worlds problem. We mean "non-religious" in the sense that it is not part of our mission to prostelyze as part of our work.
